Its fascinating mix of religions, festivals, temples, bazaars, exotic and colourful people and beautiful landscapes make it a compelling country. It is a country of contrasts and contradictions, particularly of great wealth and poverty. India also firmly embraces the past and the present, as well as the spiritual and the material.
