Education and Community Development

GROUP PLACEMENTS

Situated in the rolling hills of northern Thailand, UniBreak Group students may live and work with a local non-government organisation to help ethnic communities in the areas of education, health and community development.

Education
Teaching English to local school children is an integral part of the work of the non-government organisation. Volunteers are required to work in rural villages assisting local staff to teach primary aged children. Schools may be basic and have little resources. UniBreak Groups may also become involved in working on adult literacy programs.

Community Development
In addition to teaching, students will have the opportunity to contribute to one of a number of projects that are managed by the local non-government organisation including working on health and social justice campaigns such as human and sex trafficking, become involved in online projects, or assisting in community construction work.

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is in simple but comfortable traditional bamboo huts and weekends can be spent exploring local villages, shopping at markets or trekking with elephants.
