Teaching English

Volunteers teach English to students aged 6-15 in local schools. Class sizes vary from 20 - 40 kids. Volunteers can chose which age they would like to teach. There is a syllabus that you will follow so lesson plans need to be developed accordingly. Most of the children you will be teaching have a basic to medium level of English. School runs for 5 days a week from 8am - 2pm with Saturday and Sunday off.

Students are energetic and enthusiastic while educational facilities are simple and basic. Ghana leaves an indelible mark on all visitors because of the warmth and hospitality of its people.

Ghana is renowned for music so volunteers should be prepared to sing with the children. There is plenty of drumming and dancing. Drum lessons are included in the orientation period.
