Our booking and pre-departure preparation process involves the following stages. Please follow these carefully to ensure your application is correct.
 
Some GapBreak placements have a limit to the number of volunteers who can participate per group at the same time. To ensure you secure your spot on your number one placement choice, please submit your application as soon as you can. Often our GapBreak participants book mid-way to the end of the Year 12 studies - to secure their GapBreak the following year.

To take part in the GapBreak program you will need to arrange an interview either face-to-face or by phone if you live outside of Sydney. To arrange an interview please fill out the Interview Request Form
Teach English overseas, Volunteer teaching, International Volunteering Decision Point:
If your interview is successful, it's now decision time! Do your research and select a destination that suits you. Complete the Antips Booking Form and return to us via post, fax or email. Once we receive your booking form and $500 deposit, we can secure your position on a GapBreak placement.
Volunteering overseas, International Volunteering, Volunteer work overseas Confirmation of Booking:
Once we receive your Booking Form and deposit of $500, we will send you a confirmation and receipt for your records. Following this, you will receive a destination handbook covering topics such as country information, travel tips, visa application, fundraising ideas and more.

Payment:
You will be issued with a payment plan that typically involves 3 or 4 installments. The balance of your payment is due 60 days prior to your placement starting date. You can pay by cheque, direct deposit or credit card..

Student Training Course:
Every student is required to attend an intensive 2-day training course held in Sydney. Information covered at the course includes living and working in a developing country, health and safety, placement information and possible scenarios. Training is also a great opportunity to meet past travellers and the other volunteers on your placement. Accommodation and meals are supplied, however transport to the venue is at the students’ own cost. Airport transfers are available on a booking basis.

Work experience overseas, Volunteer work overseas, Teach English overseas Parents' Info Briefing:
All parents and students are invited to our pre-departure information sessions where they will receive specific information relating to their placement. We hold these meetings face-to-face where possible, or online for rural or remote families. Topics covered include the role of Antipodeans Abroad, health and safety, risk management and destination information.
Work experience overseas, Volunteer work overseas, Teach English overseas Final Details:
Once we receive the balance of your payment and accompanying paperwork, we will issue you with a final details document. This document will list key in-country contacts, details of meet and greet on arrival, and further special instructions for your placement.

Safety and Support
Antipodeans Abroad will liaise directly with you and handle your placement through all stages of the process from the moment you book to when you return home. You will have our full support as well as that of our in-country partners. You can feel safe in the knowledge that we will be on 24-hour back up during your time away.

My placement was so much more than a break from study, it was an experience that threw me in the deep end and I learnt so much along the way. The personal relationships that I developed with the In-country staff, the other volunteers and the villagers really stick in my mind and to be honest, made the trip one that was unforgettable for me.
