Expeditions & Tours

Our Expedition program sends teams of high school students on 2-4 week leadership-focused journeys in developing countries. Our aim is to broaden the horizons of young people by opening up their eyes to the world, its cultures, its people and its infinite possibilities.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Our Expeditions combine three phases:

The Project will involve a sustainable community project at grassroots level. Examples include renovating a classroom in a village school, installing a water tank or chimney, working in an orphanage or building a kitchen.

The Trek will involve a physical challenge of 2-14 days duration - your group will choose the length and degree of the trekking challenge. You may even decide to do a bicycle leg instead of a walking trek.

The Journey encompasses the entire learning experience, as students work together and make decisions for the duration of the expedition. Students are encouraged to take on leadership roles, with the safety and knowledge there is a support system in place.

Schools and teachers can choose the style, nature and focus of their expedition in various countries around the world. We currently run expeditions in Nepal, India, Cambodia, Borneo, Tibet, Morocco, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, Thailand, South Africa, Laos, Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Botswana and New Zealand.

VENTURERS PROGRAM
Antipodeans Abroad also run all-schools' teams known as 'The Venturers'. These teams comprise of students from different schools across Australia, who sign up as individuals. The Venturers' expedition teams travel to countries such as Borneo, Vietnam and Nepal in January each year. It’s a great way to complete aspects of the Duke of Edinburgh award, International Baccalaureate or just enjoy adventurous travel with a community service focus.

You can find our more by Requesting a Venturers Information Kit . We also run Venturers information evenings in every state for students and parents. Please view our Info Night page for sessions near you.

Nothing grows self belief and confidence quite like being put new situations in a developing country. The program allows you to take control of the trip but in a way that is safe and protected. We made all our own decisions about where to stay, what to eat, how we’d get from one place to another, how we’d manage our budget - it truly is a unique and invaluable experience.
