THAILAND
Students from any discipline can carry out work on a community development project in Chiang Mai. The project aims to improve facilities at a women’s shelter that provides a home and protection for young hill tribe women at risk of being trafficked. Contributions from student volunteers are in high demand and can enable the shelter to accommodate and provide protection for more young girls. A vitally important part of the project involves educating the young women and girls in order to make them more aware of the risk of being trafficked. You may also assist in setting up agricultural projects aiming to help the young women and girls to become more self-sufficient. There may also be a chance to set up fundraising campaigns to provide extra resources for the shelter.
