Nepal

Famous for Mount Everest, Nepal is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Swift running rivers flow from the Himalayas in the north, while flat green plains decorate the south of Nepal. The history of the country is closely related to its geographical location, separating the fertile plains of India from the desert like plateau of Tibet. Nepal has the lowest number of roads per person and square metre of land in the world. Much of Nepal is only accessible by foot. There is no electricity outside of large towns.

UNIVERSITY FACULTY PROJECTS
UniBreak Group placements in Nepal are located in the Tibetan community of Pokhara, a stunning town situated in the foothills of the Annapurna mountain range. There are also placement opportunities in the Kathmandu Valley.

Care Work & Education
UniBreak Group volunteers may teach English in local school or work at a local orphanage. Local communities are keen to learn English so they have the opportunity to find future work in the tourism industry.

Nursing and Medical
UniBreak Group health care placements are also available in and around Pokhara for volunteers with particular skills to work in basic medical facilities. UniBreak Groups may work alongside local staff on a rotational basis between a number of rural clinics, care centres and hospitals. Students also have the opportunity to teach health and hygiene to local school children.

ACCOMMODATION
Volunteers may live with a local family, or if they are involved in teaching, they may live in the school hostel. Groups may also stay in community centres or in local guest houses.

Sample Itineraries:

Going away would be one of the best decisions someone could make in their lives. It not only allowed me to see the world but increased my respect for people not as well-off as me. It will make you confident, give you independence, and help shape the way you think and do things.
