ECUADOR
If you have an interest in working with young children, Ecuador has an abundance of opportunities to do so. Choose to work in a local orphanage caring and playing with disadvantaged local children. There is also the opportunity to assist in a Downs Syndrome and a clinic for children with disabilities. At this clinic, you can aid in the children’s therapies, as well as making them feel wanted and special.

SOUTHERN AFRICA (Swaziland, Mozambique, South Africa)
In both Swaziland and South Africa you get the chance to make an impact on the lives of young disadvantaged children. In Swaziland, a large proportion of the children have been affected by HIV/AIDS in some way. You can help in their day-to-day activities by teaching basic English, conducting arts and craft workshops, and just playing with them. At the end of your placement you will spend time in Cape Town, South Africa. Here, you are based in the Yethu Township of Hout Bay, a disadvantaged area of the city. You will be helping with basic life skills training, teaching and support for young children and adults.

ARGENTINA
Based in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, you will travel to the poorer city suburbs to work with a local NGO (non government organization). Here you can sharpen your Spanish skills and work with young children on a range of activities. From working at a community centre, caring for HIV-affected children and after school programs, there are a variety of projects to get stuck into. Basic conversational Spanish is a necessity for this placement option.

I’d always heard of the poverty in Africa, but actually going to live in such an environment has really taught me to be more thankful for what I have. It's truly changed my attitude and the way I approach different situations in life.
