Building

KENYA
Building and construction work in Kenya focuses on improving facilities at the local primary school (approximately 800 children), as well as assisting the wider community. Help to improve the local school and provide housing for the sick and elderly through low-level construction, painting and plastering. In Kenya you also get the opportunity to be involved in teaching and wildlife conservation, as well embark on an animal safari.

BORNEO
Get stuck into a wide range of projects during your Borneo placement from low level construction work to painting newly furnished classrooms. Students in the past have helped to refurbish a traditional longhouse, re-paint the local school and construct a large multi-purpose Kindergarten and community centre. Other activities include teaching English at the local school, rainforest restoration and marine conservation. Embrace local life though learning local handicraft techniques, participating in dance and music recitals or participating in a nightly game of football.

PERU
Between teaching and building projects, you’ll never have a dull moment in Peru. Spend your days working at a beautiful school outside of Cusco, on a mixture of teaching and construction projects. Recent projects have included helping build a perimeter wall for the local primary school, as well as aiding in the construction of a sustainable community restaurant.

SOUTHERN AFRICA
Take a journey through Southern Africa and participate on projects in Swaziland and South Africa. Take part on an 8-week community project including sports coaching, teaching English, care work and construction. Help build small classrooms for new community centres dotted around the local community. The majority of children are under 6 years of age and come from extremely poor backgrounds, so the rewards of involvement with them is high. Placement includes an animal safari and Mozambique beach camp. This placement is a fascinating journey and involves a wonderfully varied series of projects.
