Volunteer Projects

As a GapBreak volunteer, you have the opportunity to work on a huge variety of projects across 17 different and exciting countries. These projects are a chance for you to make a contribution to a local community, be constructive in your gap year and experience a wonderful new culture very different to your own. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a range of skills, and boost your resume for future employment. Show people you have a bit of get up and go!

SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS
All our volunteer projects are thoroughly researched and screened to ensure they are sustainable and directly benefiting the local community. Over 15 years of experience have gone into making these projects rewarding and worthwhile. Be it teaching, building, care work or community programs, the contribution you will make to the community is worthwhile and highly valued.

IN-COUNTRY AGENTS
In every destination we have qualified and reliable representatives who help oversee all aspects of your project and GapBreak experience. Our In-Country Partners will conduct your orientation, facilitate your volunteer projects and be your first point of contact for any questions or concerns. They also cover areas of health and safety, give local travel advice and inspect home stays prior to your arrival.

They are on 24-hour call over the duration of your placement and ensure your placement runs as smoothly as possible.

FREE TIME
Of course your GapBreak experience is also a chance for you to travel and explore a new country and its people. Weekends are your time to travel with your fellow volunteers and soak up your surroundings. From paragliding, Himalayan treks, bicycle tours and bungee jumping to Amazon jungle adventures students make the most of their free time to explore and see the world.

My three months working and living in Peru were filled with memories I will cherish forever. Teaching at a rural school and working with a disadvantaged community was so rewarding, not to mention living with a Peruvian family!
