CONSTRUCTION, CONSERVATION, COMMUNITY WORK

Famous for its African wildlife and incredible tribal diversity, Tanzania is rich in beautiful beaches, diving sites, and medieval ruins. Why not check out the tropical island of Zanzibar or hike the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro? As a GapBreak volunteer, you will become an integral part of the local community, building and improving the facilities of the local schools and housing. Work closely with the natural environment, helping conserve its beauty and diversity. Balance your volunteer work with a trip to Kenya for an animal safari, and a visit to a Masai village.

VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
Base yourself in colourful Tanga, one of Tanzania’s oldest coastal towns, in the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Your purpose built camp is situated in the heart of a rural coastal community, looking out onto the stunning Indian Ocean.

The project work will be varied and includes construction work on the local school, teaching English, conservation, agricultural work, building of sports facilities and improving teaching materials. You will work alongside local professionals gaining new skills and contributing greatly to the overall standard of living of the local community. Help weave a thatched roof for a local family, or work with the local women harvesting seaweed from the crystal clear ocean water.

ACCOMMODATION
Live in a comfortable purpose built camp with other Australian and international volunteers. Special attention has been made for the environmental and climate considerations of the accommodation, with all rooms light, airy, cool and fully netted to reduce mosquito/insect risk. Eat your meals in the communal camp area under the starry African skies.
