SOUTH AFRICA, SWAZILAND & MOZAMBIQUE

TEACHING, SPORTS COACHING, CHILD CARE

Our unique 3-month Southern Africa placement combines travel, adventure and volunteer work in three diverse countries – Swaziland, Mozambique and Swaziland. Perfect if you’ve always dreamed of a gap year in Africa! Soak up the rich and varying landscapes of southern Africa whilst undertaking this action packed placement. Visit Kruger National Park on a 4-day camping safari, snorkel with whale sharks in Mozambique and immerse yourself in Swazi culture.

YOUR SCHEDULE & VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
Kick-start your gap year travel experience with a 5-night camping safari in Kruger National Park, before travelling to Swaziland where you will begin your volunteer work.

Here you can participate in a mixture of teaching, care work, sports coaching and building projects in the heart of Swaziland communities. Grow close to the local children you work with each day, and see the difference you are making to their lives, especially those children affected by HIV /AIDS.

Next, your group of volunteers will head to Mozambique, famous for its idyllic tropical beaches and the world’s biggest fish, the Whale Shark, which you may have the opportunity to snorkel alongside! Other optional activities include diving, quad biking, horse riding, surfing and deep-sea fishing.

Return to Swaziland to finish up your placement work, and then take 2 weeks to travel down the stunning coast to Cape Town, exploring the sites as you go. Stay in local backpackers and get to know your local guides.

The final three weeks of your time volunteering in Africa is spent in the stunning city of Cape Town, South Africa. South Africa faces many social challenges with sprawling townships that are poverty stricken and home to thousands of families. Here your volunteer working will be with disadvantaged children from the township or with community groups. Southern Africa is a great choice if you're looking to do lots of gap year travel, and want to see a lot of what Africa has to offer!

ACCOMMODATION
Share your experience with the other volunteers in youth backpackers lodges across the duration of your placement. Your accommodation in Swaziland and South Africa has large communal areas, TV/DVD rooms, Internet access and swimming pools. Other forms of accommodation range from dome tents in Mozambique and Kruger National Park, and guesthouses as you travel from country to country.
