Ecuador

TEACHING, COMMUNITY WORK, CARE WORK

Live in picturesque Quito, the capital city of Ecuador based high in the rugged Andes Mountains. Explore the dense Amazon rainforest and beautiful seaside villages on the weekends, whilst devoting your time to working with underprivileged children during the week. Ecuador is a nature lover’s dream, with stunning birds and gardens, unique jungle plants and insects, amazing animals and the unforgettable Galápagos Islands.

VOLUNTEER PROJECTS

If you have an interest in working with young children, Ecuador has an abundance of opportunities to do so. Work and teach in a local orphanage or school caring and playing with disadvantaged local children. Day to day tasks will primarily involve teaching and may include feeding, dressing, washing and playing with the children.

There is also the opportunity to assist in a Downs Syndrome and children with disabilities clinic. At this clinic, you can aid in the children’s therapies, as well as making them feel wanted and special. These children are always in need of new stimulating activities.

Most of the projects are located in the old town of colonial Quito. Other projects take place in poor neighbourhoods on the outskirts of the city, that is, in the northern and southern parts of Quito.

ACCOMMODATION
You have a fantastic opportunity to live with a local host family, within the fascinating city of Quito. You will be housed in a safe and comfortable home, becoming part of your family’s daily activities. The family will speak a small amount of English, and it is highly recommended that you learn some basic Spanish prior to your placement.
