Destinations

Our GapBreak volunteers work in 18 different destinations across Asia, the Americas, Africa and Europe. Each destination is unique in terms of project work, accommodation and travel opportunities. Whether your dream is to go on a safari in Africa, become part of a Nepali family or speak Spanish in Argentina - we have a destination that will suit you.

You have complete freedom to choose which destination you wish to travel to on your GapBreak. Antipodeans Abroad endeavours to place you on your number one destination and project choice. You can even request to be placed with a friend - should you want to travel with someone from school. It should be noted however places in some destinations are limited and are granted on a first-in, first-served basis. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you book well in advance in order to ensure your first preference.

WHAT DESTINATION IS RIGHT FOR ME?
We often find the hardest part of the GapBreak application process for students is choosing where to go. You can help narrow down your choice by focussing on the project work you may be interested in, as well as the type of accommodation. For example, would you like to live with a local family, or with other Antipodeans volunteers? During the interview process we can also help answer any questions you have, and steer you towards the right destination.

To read more about each destination, please refer to the map below or simply click on a country in our side menu. You can also read stories from our past GapBreak students by jumping onto the blog, or heading to the “My Antipodeans Experience” page.
