Students are able to book much of their transport, tours and accommodation and choose from countless cheap restaurants as they travel. This, mixed with worthwhile community projects and outstanding trekking, means Vietnam fits perfectly with the leadership and community service objectives of the Expedition program.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
- Projects are based in or around Hanoi
- Teams may be involved in the following activities:
- Helping out in schools and orphanages
- Painting classrooms
- Renovating kitchens, installing water tanks or paths
- Building desks or book shelves for libraries
- Students will be surrounded by the local children who are eager to learn more English and play games, particularly badminton and soccer
TREKS
- The northwest highlands around Sapa provide the venue for some spectacular trekking
- Teams travel through local villages where ethnic hill tribe people live
- Teams stay in local homestays
- Students gain a real understanding of life for these ethnic hill tribe people of Vietnam
- Students are given an opportunity to taste amazing and authentic Vietnamese food provided by host families
