Thailand

A trip to Thailand allows teams to discover remote villages and a fascinating mosaic of minority tribes wearing traditional dress. Students experience cultural interaction on community projects that are sustainable, on-going and make a difference.

Expeditions ignore the tourist areas of the southern beaches and instead venture into the northern hill tribe regions. The local people are friendly, tourism is low key and responsible travel is practised.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

  • Projects are based north east of Chiang Rai
  • Stay at the project centre in a homestay-style house
  • Projects include teaching and various on-going community development projects
  • These projects suit teams that will be enthusiastic whilst teaching and motivated to meet the local kids

TREKS

  • While trekking through remote villages, teams experience the many fascinating aspects of Thai culture
    - Staying with locals in homestay houses
    - Feasting on the tastiest food in South East Asia
  • The mountains can be challenging, though trekkers can choose routes that suit varying levels of fitness and adventure

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Elephant treks
  • Mekong River cruises
  • Golden Triangle towns
  • Temples and markets
  • Border crossings to Laos and Cambodia.

He has increased in confidence and maturity as a result of the responsibilities given to him during the expedition. Tom’s interest in the history and culture of the people he visited, and his enthusiasm to learn about them, is wonderful.
