Landlocked by Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Myanmar, Laos is a country with a turbulent past but one that is steadily moving forward into a bright future. Now a peaceful and beautiful country with World Heritage-listed cities and temples, hospitable people and remote mountains for trekking, Laos holds much for the first time visitor. Expedition teams can look forward to elephants rides, Mekong River boat trips, the beautiful city of Luang Prabang, limestone caves, traditional Laotian villages, processions of saffron-robed monks and fantastic night markets.
